COVID-19

At Orange Rehabilitation and Health Care Center we are committed to keeping you up to date on our fight against COVID-19.  Updates can be found here.

Visitation in General

All visitation is based on the facilities outbreak status, the county's positivity rate, CDC and CT DPH guidelines, a resident's health status at the time, a visitor's health status and a visitor's compliance with visitation guidelines as well as other factors. We will update our policy as these guidelines change.

The below CORE PRINCIPLES should be followed at all times:

Core Principles of COVID-19 Infection Prevention

• Screening of all who enter the facility for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., temperature checks, questions or observations about signs or symptoms), and denial of entry of those with signs or symptoms or those who have had close contact with COVID19 infection in the prior 14 days regardless of vaccination status.

• Hand hygiene (use of alcohol-based hand rub is preferred)

• Universal Masking (covering mouth and nose)

• Social distancing at least six feet between persons

• Instructional signage throughout the facility and proper visitor education on COVID-19 signs and symptoms, infection control precautions, other applicable facility practices (e.g., use of face covering or mask, specified entries, exits and routes to designated areas, hand hygiene)

• Cleaning and disinfecting high frequency touched surfaces in the facility often, and designated visitation areas after each visit

DOME Visitation

Orange Health Care Center has become the first facility in the State to install a Geodome for the safe and comfortable visitation of your loved ones during this Pandemic. The CDC has announced that outdoor visitation remains the safest type of visitation regardless of vaccination status. With our vulnerable population and the uncertainties surrounding these new strains of the virus we felt this was the safest and wisest investment for our facility and your loved ones.

Our Dome is heated and is weather proof. It can be used in all weather conditions including rain, snow and wind. Many residents have said that visits with the snow falling is like "being in a snow globe." Regardless of your vaccination status or your loved ones vaccination status we encourage all visitation to happen in our Dome for safety and for comfort.

The temperature in the Dome can be regulated and many families have even noted they enjoy the vents open while visiting.

Dome visits are made online 48 hours in advance via our email reservation system: orangehcskype@gmail.com. Please note that this email is only monitored Monday-Friday during business hours.
For those without email access you may call and reserve the Dome at 203-795-0835 (48) hours in advance, Monday-Friday during business hours.

Indoor Visitation
At this time our States positivity rate is such that indoor visits may be allowed according to our indoor visitation policy. We would like to caution you that we make no guarantees regarding the safety of your visit and in fact encourage you to continue to visit outside in the comfort of our Dome or Patio.

Indoor Visitation Guidelines

Indoor visits are facilitated as the picture above shows.

*There is a plexiglass divider between you and the resident and you will sit at a 6 foot table to maintain social distancing.

*Universal masking must be maintained at all times.

*No eating or drinking during your visit.

*Indoor visits are 20mins in length.

* Indoor visits are scheduled in the same manner as outdoor visits using our email visitation reservation system below.

*Visitors will enter and exit via the front door.

*You must complete a health screening and temperature monitoring form.

*There is no touching during your visit.

*Visitors are not allowed in the hallways, resident's rooms or any other area other than at the visitation table.

*Two visitors at a time are allowed. No pets or children are allowed at this time during indoor visits.

In accordance with CDC and DPH guidelines Indoor Visitation may be limited during the following scenarios:

1) Unvaccinated residents. If New Haven County Positivity Rate is above 10% AND less than 70% of residents in the facility are fully vaccinated.

2) Residents with confirmed COVID19 infection, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated until they have met the criteria to discontinue precautions.

3) Any resident on Observation Unit until they are released from quarantine.

4) During a facility outbreak as defined by the CDC.

Visits are made online 48 hours in advance via our email reservation system: orangehcskype@gmail.com. Please note that this email is monitored Monday-Friday during business hours. For those without email access you may call and reserve the space at 203-795-0835 (48) hours in advance, Monday-Friday during business hours.

Electronic Visits
All of our residents have the use of our Ipads for electronic visits.

These visits can be set-up for you by a member of our staff and have the most flexibility in terms of length, times of scheduling, and privacy. Once the Ipad is set up for the resident and the call is connected you are free to talk for as long as you like with your loved one.

Compassionate Care Visits
Residents experiencing end-of-life or change of condition situations may be eligible for Compassionate Care Visits. These visits would be set up through our DNS, APRN/Medical Director, Interdisciplinary team and family discussions. Compassionate Care visits will be allowed regardless of facility outbreak status or county positivity rate.

Window Visits

Window visits are available to all residents at any time during sunlight hours.

For the BEST visitation opportunity call ahead and we can have your loved one ready at the window with a mask on and awaiting your arrival.

This is not required however and you can call when you arrive and we can have your loved one brought over to the window when you arrive.

.

Residents on OBSERVATION

Residents on our observation wing are considered our most vulnerable and at-risk population. For this reason we need to be extremely cautious with how they receive visitation. However, we do understand how important connecting with loved ones is during this time. We offer the following types of visitation during an OBERVATION STAY:

1) Electronic Visits

2) Telephone Calls

3) Closed Window visits with simultaneous phone conversations.
